I think that this tendency to blame unmet expectations on others pervades of all of society, politics and even economics (I'm thinking of the "externalities" talked about in the film "The Corporation"). Perhaps this is one of the reasons that "Don't Make Assumptions" is one of Don Miguel Ruiz' Four Agreements.
