BT Group PLC Buys Counterpane Internet Security, Inc.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — BT Group PLC, the former British telecom monopoly, said Wednesday it bought Silicon Valley-based Counterpane Internet Security Inc. to boost its computer security services for corporate customers.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Editor: Counterpane is primarily known as a Managed Security Service (MSS), most famous for it’s founder and current CTO (Chief Technical Officer) Bruce Schneier (author of Applied Cryptography). They also have an impressively ugly website when viewed with Firefox 2.0 (but it’s quite pretty when viewed using Internet Explorer).
